NGC 40. The general structure of the radio image is similar to that of the H alpha image. This is because the gas, heated by light from the central star, emits both visible light and radio light.
The image in the lower left is not of any astronomical object. It represents the ΓÇ£beamΓÇ¥ of the Very Large Array radio telescope used to take the image. The point in the center represents the telescopeΓÇÖs resolution. A radio telescope cannot map details smaller than the beam size.
